Originally dubbed 'The Fellowship Trip' because of its likeness to the hobbit's journey in Lord of The Rings, this one is hard to put into words: from the remote lake we get dropped in within the foothills of the Misabi range, through wetlands, old growth forest, 8 waterfalls, giant lakes, forested islands, through the swamps of the less-travelled Muskego Wildlands to an island camp Bald Eagles are often seen over, it is jaw-droppingly beautiful throughout.

But not without effort: you'll paddle and portage your way through 90km of rugged terrain (110km total), but be rewarded with some rest days to enjoy some of the most stunning campsites on Earth.

Did we mention there's a luxury eco lodge with a sauna on top of a waterfall at the halfway point? Elrond's Palace does exist! (and if you can't do the 12 day epic, we've split it into 2 options below!)

Looking for some rough stuff? A variation of the second half of our Heart of Temagami trip this is for those wanting to immerse themselves in a more jungle-like experience, as we navigate our way through mixed forest and swamps.

There's a stunning variety of flora and fauna, with participants having spotted Bald Eagles overhead, Moose trails, the endangered Jefferson's Salamander, lakes teaming with fish, Beaver, the giant Pileated Woodpecker; not to mention heard Moose calling at night and the eerie Elk bugle in the day as both species rut commences.

The terrain is as tough as it comes, where every portage is an obstacle course and we could end up having to clear a trail, but it's really quite special - all that's missing are the dinosaurs. This is proper adventure, and we'll help you get fit enough before we go.

Highlands, Wetlands & Waterfalls

Limited time and it's beautiful scenery you're after? This stunning trip forms half of our 'Heart of Temagami' 12 day epic.

A seemingly ridiculous EIGHT waterfalls will be enjoyed on route as we drop into the foothills of the Misabi range onto The Lake With The Bend In The Middle,  where the First Nations would go to connect with the spirit world.

From there we'll fine tune your paddling as we journey through the highlands and wetlands to join a gentle river, interspersed with falls and rapids, saying hi to Beavers, Otters, Ravens, Turkey Vultures, Whiskey Jack, Mink, the endearingly cheeky Red Squirrels and, if we're quiet enough maybe a Moose .

You'll also get to 'walk the log' at Bridal Veil Falls and squeeze through 'Fat Man's Gap' as we portage our way down the river, where the bits that barely get a mention on the route maps turn out to be some of the prettiest scenery you've ever seen.

And as with our 12 day epic, you can stop for a bit of luxury at the halfway point.

Big canoe trips with lots of portage not your thing?

Maybe you have a chronic injury or other conditions holding you back?

Or maybe you'd rather  just be able to relax, immerse yourself in nature, shoot some photography, play with kit, learn and practice your skills?

How'd you like to be dropped off at an island in the middle of a lake in the middle of the wild lands?

A lake notoriously challenging to reach by canoe.

A lake where Bald Eagles soar overhead and, if you're lucky, you might hear the haunting sound of the Elk bugling in the rut (which, when carried on the wind through the trees, is something so unusual it has to be heard to be believed).

Day trips to explore the lakes and swamps around it can be done travelling light. Learn new skills. Go for a dip. Hides can be built. Camera traps can be set up on trails.

And it might also have the most beautiful view from a Thunderbox on Earth. Need we say more? 💩
